Mexico and the Dominican Republic faced off in the opening match of the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, with Mexico securing a crucial victory. Thanks to a standout performance by Edson Álvarez, El Tri earned vital points to strengthen their position in the group standings.

The national team is moving hotels due to the anti-ICE protests, which are heading into their fifth night in the Los Angeles area. With the National Guard troops and U.S. Marines being deployed in the city, Concacaf has allowed to make this late change.
