An NFL insider revealed the Pittsburgh Steelers’ view on a potential trade for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins as an Aaron Rodgers backup plan. It’s mid-May, and one of the league’s most storied franchises is still in the dark on who will start under center.

The Atlanta Falcons still have Kirk Cousins on their roster.That's not to say the 36-year old couldn't be traded or released before the season starts, but for now, he's a very expensive backup QB to Michael Penix Jr.

Art Rooney has also stated that he is confident that Rodgers will sign with the Steelers, and if he does the Falcons will need to move fast on what to do with Cousins.

During an appearance on Thursday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN's Peter Schrager reported that Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins is a "viable" trade target for the Steelers if their pursuit of Rodgers comes up short.

They gave the Steelers four primetime games, one international game, and two later afternoon windows. The NFL is saying they expect the Steelers to be in playoff contention and have Rodgers.
