Jhoan Duran is a Phildelphia Phillie now. The former Twins closer, who comes with one of the most electrifying entrance sequences in baseball, got his first moment to soak it all in at Citizen's Bank Park on Friday night.

Phillies fans were looking forward to seeing both when the team’s new closer, Jhoan Duran, would come on to pitch for the first time after being acquired in a July 30 trade with the Twins.

The emotions were mixed Wednesday when Duran was traded Wednesday from Twins to the Phillies. Minnesota was mid-firesale, landing minor league catcher Eduardo Tait and near-major league starter Mick Abel. Duran has been with Minnesota since 2018, playing all four of his major league seasons there in his ascent to elite closer status.
