The president said Wednesday that imports from India would be subject to a 25 percent tariff as of Friday, as trade talks between the countries hit a stumbling block.

India buys military equipment and oil from Russia, enabling Moscow's war in Ukraine—leading to the additional penalties.

The 25 percent fee will apply to all goods from India, along with an extra import tax because of India's buying of Russian oil.
