The 17th driver to make a run during time trials, Christopher Bell navigated the 0.526-mile track in 19.718 seconds on Saturday and waited as the 21 drivers who followed took their respective shots at the standard he set.
After his victory burnout, Hamlin unveiled a new victory flag reading "11 against the world" and held it to the Martinsville crowd. When asked about the flag, Hamlin credited the national championship-winning Ohio State Buckeyes football team with providing the inspiration.
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver will lead the field in the Cook Out 400, currently scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Sunday.
