Coast Guard Petty Officer Scott Ruskan rescued nearly 200 people including children from Camp Mystic during catastrophic Texas floods that have claimed 68 lives in Kerr County.

The death toll, as of Sunday at 10 p.m., of 81 fatalities, makes the Central Texas flash floods on July 4 the second-deadliest flood disaster in Texas history.

Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said at a Sunday afternoon briefing 40 adults and 28 children were confirmed to have died in flooding in the county. At least six people died in Travis County, home to Austin, and three others were confirmed dead in Burnet County, to the city's northwest.
