The first-ever Barbie with Type 1 diabetes comes with an insulin pump and glucose monitor. Both kids and adults with diabetes are celebrating the announcement and say they are grateful for a doll that represents them.
Mattel, Inc. announced on July 8 that it would debut the first Barbie doll with type 1 diabetes. Doing so "enables more children to see themselves reflected in Barbie and encourages doll play that extends beyond a child’s own lived experience," according to the company.
