Aitana Bonmati has rejoined Spain's squad for the Women's European Championship in Switzerland after being discharged from hospital following a bout of viral meningitis in a big boost for the world champions two days ahead of their opening match.

The Spanish Football Federation says midfielder Aitana Bonmatí has rejoined the Spain squad in Switzerland ahead of the team's opener in the Women's European Championship on Thursday.

Spanish soccer star Aitana Bonmatí has been hospitalized with viral meningitis just days before the start of the Women’s Euros on Wednesday, her manager Montse Tomé said.
